BTMK Solicitors have been asked to participate in a project with Washington-based Lex Fellowship, to give talented undergraduate students from top US universities, such as Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and other prestigious institutions insight into and first-hand experience of working in a UK based commercial law firm.
Pre-law school students will broaden their perspectives by visiting BTMK Solicitors in May, June & July this year, and will be shown varied branches of legal practice in some of our key commercial departments, and will also undertake a short educational legal case exercise based on a real case.
The Lex Fellowship have already successfully visited many renowned firms such as Squire Patton Boggs, Osborne Clarke or Davis Polk & Wardwell, etc., and have also run programs in Spain and Italy. This is their first visit to London & Essex, where BTMK have a number of offices.
Nitin Khandhia MD of BTMK said of the forthcoming visits, “This is a great opportunity for BTMK and also for the US law students. We already work with a number of US firms on cross-border matters, particularly those relating to cross-border enforcement issues. There are many similarities in our systems, as well as differences, and for these students, it will be a great opportunity for them to see how things are done on our side of the fence.
Dennis Lutsky, of The Lex Fellowship Program, said “We are excited to work with BTMK Solicitors this summer and this is a great opportunity for our students to learn from their professionals about foreign legal practices and to gain practical knowledge by working on real cases in commercial law. We are grateful for BTMK’s support with our program and are looking forward to our visits with their team”
