When we first attended at the Roslin Beach Hotel to select the BTMK Hare over 18 months ago, we had no idea how awe-inspiring the Hares would be and the impact that they would have on our community and our town.
That day at the Roslin Beach Hotel, BTMK chose RollaHare Coaster. And on Tuesday September 28th the Hares About Town gathered at Southend’s Garon Park for the final time, at the grand auction. Since it started in July, the project has raised nearly £500,000 for Havens Hospice. BTMK’s RollaHare Coaster itself was auctioned off for £4,300.
Hares About Town was a spectacular art project to raise funds and awareness for Havens Hospice. 30 hares, each uniquely painted by local artists and sponsored by local businesses, were dotted around Southend.
Through the app, hare-hunters could follow the trail and donate money to Havens along the way. It saw a community come together to help raise money for a vital local charity.
“I just wanted to say on behalf of all the Directors and the Teams at BTMK how proud we have been to be involved with this spectacular art project since the very start,” said Nitin Khandhia, Managing Director at BTMK.
“For the project to have now raised just a whisker short of HALF A MILLION POUNDS for Havens Hospice is just incredible.
“Havens Hospice is and always will be a charity very close to the heart of BTMK and our sincere thanks go out to the charities’ entire team, all the Hare co-sponsors and of course to all the generous individuals and organisations that helped to put the icing on the cake at the recent auction evening.”
