Why did you choose to go down the route of an apprenticeship?
Having completed an LLB Law Degree at university, pursuing an apprenticeship enables me to apply my academic knowledge in a practical, hands-on environment. This approach provides me with a deeper understanding of the realities of working in a law firm, allowing me to combine theoretical learning with the practical responsibilities of a Solicitor.
What made you choose to start this journey with BTMK Solcitiors?
During my final year at university, while completing my dissertation, I gained work experience with BTMK Solicitors in their Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. I thoroughly enjoyed working for the company, and this experience solidified my desire to become a solicitor. I learnt that BTMK offered an apprenticeship route, as I was working alongside a trainee solicitor who was completing a similar apprenticeship. After discussing the opportunity with Lisa and Fiona, I realised that the apprenticeship was the perfect route for me to become a qualified solicitor.
Do you have any advice for those considering an apprenticeship role within the legal industry?
I advise thoroughly researching different firms that offer apprenticeships. Each firm specialises in different legal areas and provides varied working experiences. Most firms offer open days, online Q&As, and both virtual and in-person work experience. These opportunities are invaluable for getting a feel for the firm and ensuring it is a place where you will feel comfortable and supported while completing your apprenticeship.
What are you most excited about your new role at BTMK?
I am excited to study a variety of modules within the BPP apprenticeship, deepening my existing knowledge in some areas and starting fresh in others. Having completed my dissertation on a Land-Law related topic, I am particularly eager to work on property cases at BTMK.
